Quando se trata de colocar as economias dos Estados Unidos em perigo, o turismo não é apenas uma indústria frágil, mas muitos que trabalham no sector trabalham de salário em salário. O petróleo é outra indústria onde as pessoas temem por empregos e se perguntam como poderão pagar o próximo aluguel.
Em todo o país, os gastos do consumidor - que sustentam 70% da economia - estão caindo em comunidade após comunidade, à medida que as pessoas evitam lojas, restaurantes, cinemas, escritórios e outros locais públicos. As demissões já começaram em grande escala
De acordo com a pesquisa inicial realizada por A Instituição Brookings, uma organização de políticas públicas sem fins lucrativos com sede em Washington, DC. economias que brilham quando o turismo é bom serão as mais atingidas pela propagação do vírus monstro COVID-19
Eles incluem Las Vegas em Nevada, Nova York, Orlando, Flórida, Maui, Havaí e Waikiki, Havaí.
Para ilustrar isso, o instituto mapeou a geografia de empregos de uma série de indústrias vulneráveis a interrupções por quedas de demanda relacionadas a vírus, paralisações e dispensas.
